“First and foremost a diet should focus on principles. Your diet does not have to have a name like Weight Watchers, Atkins, Paleo, how to lose weight fast, etc. in order to be effective. This mindset ultimately ends up causing failure in the long run. A good diet focuses on lifelong habits and progression. I tell people to focus on habits and following these habits for the long haul is what leads to “overnight success”. Face it…….anything in life worth having is going to take some sacrifice and will not be easy to get. Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to get some money from you and does not care about your results, or even your health. I have my clients make consistent progress on the following…

1. Have a grocery list and list of foods you can eat. Most people don’t realize all the healthy options they have until they really focus on making this list.

2. Understand the importance of each macronutrient (carbs, protein, and fat) when creating your meal plan. If you know how to combine the foods from these categories on your list, and the best time to eat these foods it will take you a long way.

3. Have these foods prepared in advance. Do not blow your plan and hope of dieting success because these foods are not prepared in advance. The Lack of time excuse comes up often so if this is the case then pick out an hour or two per week to prepare and freeze your foods.”
