Every day there is a new diet fad or trend. Most guarantee that you will be able to see drastic results in only a few days. The pounds will just drop off if you follow their strategy. You read about diets that recommend eating no carbohydrates or ones that tell you to eat carbohydrates only. There are diets that permit you to eat everything that you want, but you only get to eat in the morning and there are ones that claim that you can lose inches by merely controlling your breathing. Almost all of them are short term and do not work. Here are four of these so-called diets that claim you can lose weight fast.

The Grapefruit Diet

This diet promises that you can lose 12 pounds in just twelve days. This diet has actually been around since the 1940s. It is a very strict diet that lasts for 12 days. If you need to lose more than 10 pounds, it is recommended that you stop for at least two days before starting the diet again. Part of the diet involves eating a lot of unsweetened grapefruit at almost every meal. You are also required to drink at least eight glasses of water every day.

The Caveman Diet

Other names for this diet include: The Palaeolithic Diet, The Stone Age Diet or the Hunter-Gatherer Diet. The idea of this diet is very simple; you are instructed to eat what pre-historic man ate on a daily basis. You are not permitted to eat anything that does not come from this time period. This includes most grains that were cultivated during a later time period. On the forbidden list of edibles are rice, potatoes, pasta, salt, dairy and sugar. You are allowed to eat meat and fowl. The plan recommends that you try to include organs as part of the program. It wants you to eat things like liver and kidney. One of the differences about this diet is that it is a life style change. It does not have a stop and start date.

The Magnetic Diet

This diet is also a lifestyle rather than one than has a specific time period. The basic idea of this diet is that all foods have either a good magnetic quality or a bad one. Good and healthy foods use their magnetic ability to attract antitoxins, minerals and vitamins. Foods like sugar are considered to be ones that have bad magnetism. To use this diet correctly you have to learn which foods fall into each category and only eat foods that have a positive magnetic effect.

The Forking Diet

This diet has only one rule – if you cannot eat it with a fork, you cannot have it. There are two levels to this diet, one that is very strict and the other, which permits a bit of flexibility in the fork rule. In the lenient version of the diet, you may eat foods that are prepared using a knife. In the very strict version, it is fork only. On the strict version of this plan you are not permitted anything that requires a knife even during preparation. Sauces, soups, pasta and even steak are on the list of foods that are taboo.

If you are trying to lose weight, stay away from the fad and trend diets. Most of them are not only ridiculous, they are unhealthy. If you really want to lose weight, you should learn to eat a balanced healthy diet.
