Hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing weekend! Believe it or not you CAN lose weight during the Holiday season! Below are a few tips to get started before 2012 gets here…

1. Do not have the all or nothing mentality to dieting during the holidays….. I see too many people let one bad meal turn into a bad week and then that bad week turns into a bad month. A holiday party or 2 is not going to cause you to gain permanent weight. Your habits and choices over time is what really matters when it comes to reaching your goals.

2. Eat before you go out….Have a healthy meal of lean protein, essential fats, and veggies filled with fiber. Drink plenty of water so you don’t confuse your thirst with hunger.

3. Bring a healthy dish….There are plenty of dishes you can prepare and eat to fill up while everyone else is stuffing their face!

4. No one is forcing you to eat unhealthy!….If someone at your party is literally stuffing food down your throat then maybe you don’t need to be there! It is tough to be around those food items but this is the perfect time to see how mentally tough you really are.

5. Portion size…..Do you really need that much? Sample a few things but don’t turn it into a buffet.

6. Schedule your exercise sessions in advance!…….Don’t miss a session. Schedule a resistance training session before a party and get some extra cardio in also. Your body handles carbs better after strength training when your body is depleted of glycogen. Use the time off to schedule walks and get work done with your family.

7. Use supplements to combat hunger….I have seen success with fiber supplements and whey protein to stop cravings. Good fats in the form or fish oils help with this also. Chocamine also does wonders to help with hunger. You do not have to eat the actual chocolate to get chocamine! 8. Your mindset……If you have not figured out I am huge on the mental aspect of dieting and everything else in life. If you want a goal bad enough you will find a way to attain it.
