Whether you’re just getting started with a workout program or you’ve been at one for quite some time, one thing that you absolutely must be taking into account is the recovery measures you’re taking.
Recovering between your workout sessions is going to be optimal for results because a full recovery before entering the gym again is an absolute must if you’re going to see results. So what can you do to promote better recovery between your workout sessions?
Let’s take a look at a few of the top options to consider.

Hot Baths

The first recovery measure to consider is a hot bath. Hot baths will help to enhance blood circulation to and from the muscles, clearing away the lactic acid build-up and other byproducts that could cause post workout muscle soreness. Hot baths will also relax the body, reducing the amount of stress you’re experiencing.

Post Workout Nutrition

Post-workout nutrition is another must to take care of if you want optimal recovery times. What you eat immediately after a workout session will have a large impact on how you feel afterwards, so make sure you get this in line. Choose protein and carb rich foods that are low in fat for best results.


Moving along, stretching is the next must-do for success. Stretching after a workout will help to relax the tense muscles and help reduce the potential of soreness developing. Stretching is also a fantastic way to bring your heart rate back down again after the intense workout session. Ten minutes at the end of a workout can go a long way towards promoting a more ideal recovery process.


Finally, massage is the last area to focus on to improve your recovery rates. If you can book a deep tissue massage, this can work very well for relaxing the muscles, improving circulation, and fostering a faster recovery. Even if you just go for one every month, that will still go a long way towards recovery improvement. Also, a cheaper, yet very effective option, is investing in a foam roller. I will be going in to more detail about this in a future post, but this is something I do consistently with myself and my clients.
