With the holidays right around the corner, you might be feeling slightly nervous about what this may mean to your results up to this date. It’s not a secret that most people gain 10 or more pounds over the holiday season, so unless you want to follow the trend, you need to implement a few weight control tips.

Let’s look at a few holiday strategies that you can use to prevent fat gain from occurring.

Plan Your Cheats Ahead Of Time

First, there’s no denying the fact that you are going to indulge this holiday season. You are human and almost everyone will treat themselves at least a few times.

To prevent gaining weight from it however, plan for it. If you know you’re going to a party where you will indulge, eat less in the meals leading up to it to create some ‘calorie wiggle room’ for yourself.

Remember, it’s your total daily calorie balance at the end of the day that determines whether you gain weight.  Moderation is key. Remember it’s what you do 90-95% of the time that determines your results.

Go For Green Vegetables And Protein Often

Second, when choosing your food leading up to a party, eat meals that consist primarily of green vegetables and lean proteins.  You don’t  go to a party starving because you haven’t eaten all day. That’s just a recipe for disaster.

Instead, opt for lean proteins and vegetables as these control hunger and give your body the important nutrients it needs.

Get Active Outside Of The Gym

Finally, don’t let your fitness program slide.  Make sure you are consistent with your sessions and consider doing more activity outside of your sessions to burn extra calories.   Getting to the gym at this time of year can feel like mission impossible as you’re so busy, but stay focused on being consistent and think about ways to incorporate your family and friends into your routine.

Start taking part in the holiday activities of the season and incorporate those into your week. Go snow shoeing, skiing, skating, tobogganing, etc.

All will help you burn calories and prevent fat gain.

So keep these tips in mind and you can come out in the New Year without having to start up on yet another diet.
